forum for democratising food & nutrition:
A Knowledge & Advocacy Initiative
Forum managed by

Building on the momentum of the 10th International Summit on Food, Nutrition & Health in 2024, Democratising and Decolonising Food and Nutrition: From Science to Society, we have established this forum—an action-driven, globally connected hub for knowledge and advocacy dedicated to decolonising and democratising food and nutrition knowledge.

The forum serves as a collaborative space for researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and communities. It
-
ensures equitable access to evidence-based knowledge
-
amplifies underrepresented voices and
-
reshapes global food systems through informed advocacy and capacity-building.

With an international presence, the forum will bridge the divide between the Global North-South, fostering regional and international partnerships to address the systemic inequities in food and nutrition. Through a combination of digital learning resources, training programmes, and policy advocacy, we aim to empower stakeholders at all levels—from grassroots organisations to global institutions—to build more inclusive, just, and sustainable food systems.

This initiative is more than just a knowledge repository and advocacy effort—it is a platform for action, driving meaningful change in how food and nutrition knowledge is produced, shared, and applied to create lasting impact.

Bridging the Knowledge-to-Action Gap
The Problem
-Food and nutrition knowledge is abundant, but access and application remain inequitable.
-Research is often confined to academic institutions, failing to reach the communities that need it most.
The Solution

-
Beyond a Repository: The Forum is an action-driven platform advocating for knowledge justice in research, education, and policy.
-
Democratising Knowledge: Breaking down systemic barriers to ensure equitable access and application.
-
Global Collaboration: Uniting researchers, policymakers, and communities to create lasting change.

Connects cross-sector leaders for real-world impact.
Transforms research into action for community-driven solutions.
Why NNEdPro is Best Positioned to Lead
As a global leader in nutrition education, research translation, and policy advocacy, NNEDPro is uniquely positioned to spearhead this initiative. Our expertise in evidence synthesis, stakeholder engagement, and training enables us to effectively mobilise knowledge for real-world impact.

One of our flagship projects, the Mobile Teaching Kitchen (MTK), is a living example of the Summit’s theme in action.
The MTK is an innovative, community-led intervention that provides an accessible, scalable, and serviceable model for empowering marginalised communities. Through nutrition education, skill building, and entrepreneurship training, the MTK embeds scientific knowledge into practical, everyday applications. It demonstrates how a bottom-up approach can tackle food insecurity, improve public health, and support economic resilience in underserved populations.

The MTK is an example of how the decolonisation of food and nutrition knowledge can drive transformative, sustainable change across communities. It underscores the Hub’s potential to amplify such initiatives on a global scale.
